And the war begins...

It was time... we had put it off long enough. "Friend Scene It" had been put away in the game closet for way too long.
The weapons of choice were, for me a little metal coffee mug...and for Moss and little metal chair.
We each took our turn rolling the die to find out who would be granted the chance to make the first move. I won the coveted award, apparently the game knows who deserves it the most. The game was going well and we were both pretty close to each other but then the worst happen. I got a brain cramp and lost on a stupid questions about Phoebe's brother and Moss took advantage of it and made some good distance on the next few questions.
Just as I was starting to worry I may need to start watching 4 episodes a day to beat the kid that can see something once and remember it forever I pulled ahead.
Before we knew it I was about 10 spaces ahead. Moss quickly caught up though with a few good rolls and some lucky guesses. Then we got a call from a friend asking to come over and swim so we needed to do a sudden death question so we could go clean the pool. I was so excited that I had another Brain cramp and Moss totally won it.
I was so mad... It's no fair Moss was already is the smartest at the important stuff now he is the smartest at the really important stuff.
I don't know when we will be able to play again, it may take a while for the scares to heal...

Nun Muffins?

Last Sunday Moss and I were trying to figure out what we should do when Moss decided he wanted to make something yummy to eat. So he cracked open the cook book and began the search. He came over a few minutes later and showed me a picture of Nun Muffins and said I want to make these. I said ok go ahead, I hope they are good. So he slaved away in the kitchen for awhile and made his master piece. We then sat down to give them a try.
They were really really good!
We put a bit of Honey in them and some powder sugar (be sure to not inhale while attempting this, many have almost died). They were really really good! I was sure proud of my boy. They were really weird though becuase they like were hollow inside. I would suggest you all finding the recipe and giving it a whirl. I am sure if you need any help Moss will help you through it:)

What The?!?!?!

I know you all know what I am talking about when I say there is nothing like the feeling of having a long week of work and finally being able to sleep in on a Saturday morning. Moss and I had that feeling last week and were very much looking forward to the blessed event of dreaming away until about 10 or so...(haha a Lillywhite sleep in that long I think not!) So there we were right... sleeping away when all the sudden we hear a bang of some sort. Moss and I looked at each other a little confused and still sleepy. We then say that was weird and try to fall back to sleep. Not a minute later and we hear it again but this time like 6 times in a row. Moss was thinking the pool guys had forgot they were not suppose to come anymore and where messing with stuff in the back yard, I was thinking that Supe was bugging us cause he wanted us to come hiking with them early in the morning. We both got up and look around but to no avail. There was nothing to be seen. Well we could not go back to sleep after this so we decided to clean the bathroom. I love how in our house its always been that one of us will start cleaning and then the other will follow. I hate hearing or saying "It is time to clean". I think its a scar from my childhood or something I am not sure. What do you think sisters? Anyways Moss heres the bang again and open the shutters on the window in our bathroom and there it is, the reason for our anger and sleepiness. A stupid bird trying to fly into our house. You would think after trying to go the same place like 10 times and getting stopped you would give up but no not this bird. I heard once a really good definition for Stupid is doing the same thing over and over and expecting to get a new result. I figure well I might as well get something good out of this so I ran for the camera but with no luck I could not get it fast enough. You would think that was the end but no... Later that afternoon Moss yelled for me to come to his office. On my way in I heard that annoying banging sound again and I was fast enough this time. Mostly because the bird sat there for like 5 minutes just looking in the window. You can tell by the picture he seems pretty angry about something.

Then he just started for fly again and hit the window several times.
Sometime he wouldn't even fly but just flap his wings really hard and stare at us.
The next few mornings we had the same problem, I really wanted to punch the bird in the face but I decided against that, his beak is pretty sharp. The moral of the story is....don't keep doing the same thing over and over if it is not working or you will look like an idiot and probably end up with a big headache:)

Love

Recently I have seen many movies, been around many people, and read many essays and books on love. I believe that the Proclamation to the World on the Family, along with the scriptures and words of the prophets give us a real understanding of love (for a more in-depth look at love read Strengthening Our Families: An In-Depth Look at the Proclamation on the Family).

The word love is used five times in the Proclamation to the World on the Family. Every time that it is used, it is combined with an action term (i.e. to love and care, or to love and serve). The language suggests that love is something that we do—that we have some choice about and can control. In modern society however, love is something we “fall into” and “out of,” something that “hits us.” In fact, the idea of love as solemn responsibility seems strange in a society where love is usually portrayed as mindless irresponsibility or subordination of your head to your heart.

When the rich young man asked Jesus, “What good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? (Matt. 19:16)” part of Jesus’ answer was the command to love his neighbor. In order to understand this command we must know what Jesus meant by the word love. In today’s world, it has many meanings. It may express a romantic feeling, strong affection or interest, commitment, concern, satisfaction, preference, or just sexual gratification. Until we understand the Savior’s definition of love, we will have a very hard time obeying His command. President Hinckley described love this way:

Love is of the very essence of life. It is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Yet it is more than the end of the rainbow. Love is at the beginning also, and from it springs the beauty that arches across the sky on a stormy day. Love is the security for which children weep, the yearning of youth, the adhesive that binds marriage, and the lubricant that prevents devastating friction in the home; it is the peace of old age, the sunlight of hope shining through death… love, like faith, is a gift of God.

The scriptures command us to love in complex ways. Instead of simple commands to love, they combine “thou shalt love” with a verb and noun phrase making some kind of action associated with the command (see Exodus 20:5-6; Leviticus 19:18-19; Deuteronomy 10:12-13; 12:3-4; Nehemiah 1:5; Mosiah 4:15; D&C 20:19; 42:22). When God commands us to love, His language teaches us that love is more than an inner feeling; the heart, might, mind and strength all must unite in love. Repeatedly in “love and serve,” “love and obey,” “love and cleave,” the point is made that real love requires each aspect of self, not just part of us. The heart is important, just like the mind and might of physical activity, of doing as the love-filled heart directs us. There is really no choice except to act if we truly love, for God said, if we love Him, we will keep His commandments (John 14:15). In our marriages and families, we must love with our hearts, our minds, our spirit, and our hands.

Even though love might live in our heart or mind, and so be somewhat emotional, it is more than emotion. It is also manifest in other parts of us. Love is a feeling, but it is not only a feeling. It is behavior but not only behavior. Our ability to love, and our behavior in love is under our control, or God could not command us to love, nor could we teach love to our children.

Today there is a movement in pop psychology called the self-esteem movement. It has reshaped the worldview on many topics ranging from what makes a healthy childhood to what constitutes a meaningful life. The “self-esteem” literature often places love of self in priority over love of God and love of neighbor. LDS philosopher James Faulconer expressed concern that many in the LDS community seem to have accepted the worldly philosophy of self-priority.

Some think that it is scriptural that you must love yourself before you can love others. Self-esteem is not part of the scriptures or the Christian heritage. Actually, the whole notion of “self-image” as something we should focus on, evaluate, polish, work to improve, and in effect serve, verges on the love of other gods forbidden in the first commandment and idolatry forbidden in the second.

Sometimes people try to justify themselves with scriptures. The Savior’s statement, “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself” (Lve. 19:18) is usually cited as if love of self is an important part of the equation. But remember that Jesus was quoting the Mosaic Law, using the “as thyself” to say, in effect, treat your neighbor at least as well as you treat yourself. Faulconers argued:

The scripture assumes that those to whom it is addressed love themselves, but it doesn't command them to do so. … the command to love another as myself is not a command to love myself. It assumes I do, and it tells me to use that as a standards for loving others. Without adding something to it that isn't there, it says no more than that.… As such, it sets a minimum standards for conduct; it doesn't tell us that we ought to think of ourselves, either first or at all.

Near the end of His life, the Savior gave the new principle of love that went beyond the Mosiac law. His new commandment (John 13:34) set a higher standard for Christian Love. We are now commanded to “love one another as I have love you,” and the potential sacrifice required was clarified in Jesus’ statement that “greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13). In our marriages and families, we can gladly make the daily sacrifices and do the daily service that Jesus exemplified in His life.

Love grows as we serve and sacrifice for each other. Our loving acts generate love among those we love and serve. Our obedience to the loving example of the Savior opens our life to the influence of the Holy Spirit and to divine grants of love. Love, often called charity in the scriptures, only comes as a gift from God (Moroni 7:47-48; 1 Corinthians 13:13).

Just call me Betty Crocker...

On Sunday we had Mothers Day dinner over at our house for Moss' side of the family. We were in charge of dessert so Moss wanted me to make some yummy pies from scratch. I can be so domestic some times. We went shopping the night before and got all the ingredients then on Sunday I went to work. (P.S. I highlighted my hair if you can't tell its not too blond but enough...)Moss got out the camera and wanted to document the excited time since I have not made one since back in November when I did one for Bonnie's Birthday. This is me rolling out the dough and working really hard to please my man. This is how they look before they went in he oven. If you look close you can see that it says We Heart Mom. I know I am quite the creative person but don't worry I am humble about it:) Moss even help make them too he peeled the apples and even did all the dishes. Thanks Honey!!!

Having The Family Over...

A couple weeks ago we had my family over to celebrate my mom and Jason's birthday. It was pretty fun we ate some yummy food and had fun just hanging out. Joanna and Jason seemed to enjoy it. Brayden and Cameron were being really cute and crawling in and out of the house and looking through the window. Brayden also was looking sweet in my sun glasses. Ryan was getting a little antsy inside and started climbing around on stuff so I told him to ask his uncle Moss if he would teach him how to climb. He loved it! He would make me take a picture and want to show his mom and then want to go back out there. Ryan got a little scared at times but he kept wanting to do it. He is really good at trying new things. Good job Ryan!Moss was a really good teacher! Ryan got a hold of the camera and took some sweet picture of Bonnie and I.
He also got about 10 shots of the floor and peoples legs but I won't post those. It was a really fun night and we were excited to have everyone come over.

Odds and ends...

This blog is going to be a lot of random things because a lot has gone on but I don't want to do separate blogs since I don't have too much time for it any more, welcome to having a real job I guess. My first day on the job was pretty good I forgot to say that I am working for Dr. Lunt and Dr. Kvraford. I have met Dr. K a few times but Dr. Lunt has been in and out so much that I have not had a chance yet but I hear he is a way awesome guy. He is my sisters Bonnie's neighbor and she says he is the nicest guy she has ever met and Moss worked with his son and says he is the nicest guy he has ever met so I am excited to meet him.
Another exciting thing happen this week, I graduated from Dixie State College! (And apparently got a really good tan before hand:) I now have my associates of science. This last semester was tough to get through just because I knew the end was so near. But I did it and now Moss will be the only one going to school. Moss is pretty sad about it I am pretty sure but I guess he will have to find another annoying person to talk to him ALL through class, I pretty much carried that kid through nutrition this semester... (Please Please sense the sarcasm)
Moss and I also did some yard work around the house last week. I mowed the lawn which took me about 4 minutes seriously.
Moss took care of the pool. He is really good at making sure it always looks its best and is ready for a swim at anytime.
We had an extra table that we used in our old house and it had been spending its time in the garage but we finally found a place for it, the balcony.

We had a really good dinner outside and enjoyed the view also.
