Carving Pumpkins

This year we decided to carve pumpkins for FHE last night. We went to Albertsons and picked out a little tiny one for the bud a medium one for me and a big one for Moss. Someday we will make it to a pumpkin patch but for now the local grocery store will work great. The bud was so so excited about his pumpkin he kept saying it so cute kind of like “numpkin”. Here it is before…

Next we got to it and carved them out. Moss took charge and was a good director. Brenden started to get out the slimy stuff…

But then he decided it was too gooey and grabbed a spoon. haha

I was a carving fool…

I was sick of boring pumpkins so I got creative and spelled the bud’s name (the shortened version).

Eventually the Bud thought it would be better to be in charge of the seeds.

Moss was a great drawer and got a little fancy.

Mine had a little issue and turned into one with a clef pallet, whoops!

We then set them outside and lit  the candles. Brenden is so cute and every time we left today he grabbed his little” numpkin” and wanted to bring it with him haha!

Family Picture 2010

One good thing that happen last Wednesday was we got our family pictures back from Erin Andrus photography. Brenden was not very happy at all on picture day so I was excited to see that we got a few good ones. I now have my three favorite hanging up in my front entryway:)

 

   

Moss' Surgery

On Thursday afternoon the hospital called and let us know they wanted us there at 4 to prep Moss for surgery. We got all ready and Brenden taken care of and headed in. They got Moss hooked up and then we sat for about 3 hours waiting for a room to open up.

We were pleasantly surprised when the Anesthesiologist walk in and it was Moss' friend from Summit. I knew he was going to be in good hands seeing that also the Dr. was in our ward so it was not random people putting Moss' body back together. Then came the waiting. My Mom was there with me for the first 2 hours and then Moss' parents took over. It was a really long time... I was very happy to see the Dr. come out and tell me everything went great. He said it took so long because his Tendons had retracted up his leg a bit so they had to find them. He was a really nice guy and explained things very well. We then had to wait about 45 more minutes for Moss to wake up enough and then we were able to go back there with him.

He was still pretty out of it but at least he knew who I was. He kept asking the same questions over and over again it was kind of funny. He says he meant to do it so I would tell him more about it but I don't know about that. After about an hour or so he was ready to come home. Moss' parents were very nice and went and got his medication for us seeing as it was 11:30 at night it would of made our night even longer. We picked up Brenden from Bonnie's house and headed home. That night we both slept really good even Brenden. Things have been going pretty good he has not been in any pain just sleeping pretty much all the time but if it makes him heal faster than thats fine with me. We are both sick of him not being able to get around but we know it's just the start. The Dr. says about 4 weeks on crouches and then awhile with a boot. Should be great fun:) We are glad that if this had to happen it happened after the summer time and when he was out of school!

Late night...

So last night was quite the adventure. The first one of its kind for us. We were putting the tramp in the tramp hole with the sheet metal on it and Moss was trying to get it to go down and slipped and sliced his leg open. We didn't think it was too bad at first it just started bleeding a bunch so I grabbed Moss' EMT bag and he got it all wrapped up, then he realized he could not move his foot it was just hanging there. So we headed to the ER,my sweet neighbor took Brenden over to Bonnie's for us where he ended up spending the night. THANKS BONNIE! On the way our car started to act up again and with I think it was only the prayers that got us there. After doing all the sweet paper work and waiting what seemed like forever we finally got taken back. I don't think they realized just how bad it was because once they opened it up they were like oh wow thats a bad one and pretty much everyone had to come look and see it. It was so sad to see Moss laying there especially when they had to give the wound some numbing shots, I have never seen someone in more pain. At that point we called our parents and they came for moral support. We stayed there til about 11:30 and it was decided to do surgery sometime tonight. Turns out he cut all the tendons to his foot and some of the muscles. So for now we are waiting and just glad it was not any worse:)

Backyard fun

Last week our tramp arrived and I was so so excited! It was a little rainy when it got here but there was enough of a break to put it together and jump for a little bit. Moss got right to it,

Ryan and Brayden were really good at helping. They were champs and putting the spring on.

Putting on the map was definitely the most challenging part but eventually with everyone help we got it put on.

Then it was time for some jumping! Brenden was napping so he missed out:( But everyone else had a good time jumping around.
This last week weekend was full of yard work which call me weird but I loved it! First we got some trees to put out by the future fire place. Three Fan Tex Ashes and one Fruitless mulbery. Digging in this dirt is pretty much impossible so we got to use Moss Dad's hammer drill. It saved us from A LOT of work. I did some good work...

Next was putting down the weed fabric so we don't have to deal with lots of weeds later on. It was pretty fun too...

Then it was time for the drip system so our trees grow really big. I was pretty proud of myself and planned it all out and put all the little sprinklers in.

We were just on a roll so I convinced Moss to let us get our 12 tons of gravel delivered on Saturday. Luckily we were able to use Russell's tractor which saved us about 5 hours of manual labor. I love having family that is generous:) Bonnie's family also came and helped and Bonnie dominated the wheelbarrow. Good work! It only took us about 2 hours and we were all done.


Right now we have this big thing in our backyard digging our tramp hole. I am really excited for it being in the ground.

Playhouse...DONE!

Our first big do it yourself project if official done. The last little part was a little frustrating cause we couldn't figure out what exactly we were suppose to be doing but yesterday it all came together and we got it done. We hung the finishing touches on today, by that I mean the swings. Brenden loves it!

Moss really impressed me with all his knowledge and stick-to-it-ness.

We decided to add a little bling with a steering wheel and some binoculars. Brenden loves them.

Here she is...It was a lot of hard work and I am glad it is done. I am excited to move on to the tramp now it will be a lot easier:)
